CKCS United Community Club
At CKCS United, our mission is to restore and preserve the historically accurate chocolate and black Cavaliers that have been omitted from the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA (CKCSC, USA) breed standard. This exclusion narrows the gene pool and prevents these foundational colors from participating in conformation shows. We believe that by reintroducing these colors, we can enhance the genetic diversity and overall health of the breed.
With the availability of DNA testing, breeders can now provide definitive proof that their sires, dams, and puppies are 100% Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, regardless of coat color. We aim to use this technology to educate breeders and the public about the importance of genetic diversity and the rich history of these colors within the breed. By promoting awareness and understanding, we hope to foster a more inclusive and accurate representation of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Our objectives are to encourage proper breeding practices to restore and preserve the historical chocolate and black colors in Cavaliers, provide resources and information to educate the public and breeders about the significance of these colors, and advocate for their inclusion in the CKCSC, USA breed standard. Ultimately, we seek to ensure that chocolate and black Cavaliers can participate in conformation shows, honoring the true heritage of the breed and securing a diverse and healthy future for all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
